Keeping Up With Planning: This Month in Strategy - July 2016

By Jenna Sedmak - July 24, 2016

Is your strategy on summer holidays?  Hopefully not! With regular strategic planning and a strong understanding of your organizational goals and direction, you should be able to take a vacation and not worry about your strategy falling to pieces.

Even if you're on top of strategic planning, it's still important to be up to date with current industry trends and strategy news.  Continuing to foster team building and company culture, and having a flexible strategy that can adapt to different scnearios are topics that are discussed in this month's articles that are crucial for success and growth.

As a leader, how can you encourage your team to stay focused and motivated toward achieving your organizational goals? At times when the waters are rough, people can become discouraged. A good leader will help initiate strategic thinking, thus motivating their team towards achieving excellence and finding opportunities for innovation.

Alongside your strategic plan, there should also be an idea about what can happen in a variety of situations (a scenario plan). The best and worst outcomes should be planned for. Keeping up to date with rapidly changing technology is important for organizations of any size.

“Board members need better knowledge about the technology environment, its potential impact on different parts of the company and its value chain, and thus about how digital can undermine existing strategies and stimulate the need for new ones”

As important as a good strategic plan, is the ability to be flexible and adapt to a variety of situations that may arise within the length of the plan. Adaptability is key.

To grow a successful business, you need to have a team that is oriented towards the same goals, to fully understand your product and market, have a clear vision and direction, and have a passion for your product or service. Fostering a team environment where employees are able to share thoughts and ideas, understand the organizational goals and directions, and believe in the product and service they offer will help your company reach success.

A survey was conducted to help leaders determine if their IT resources on projects were efficient. Resource planning and distribution can be an important part of an organization’s strategy. This survey analysis offers information and insight on how to improve resource management.
